Raising the Money (originally written 6/19/11)

"It is a truth universally acknowledged" that one of the most daunting tasks for any producer is "raising the money" ... and so it is for Lindsay and me as we begin to raise the money necessary for our production. What helps us is the fiscal sponsorship of the festival. What this means is that when people donate to NYMF and then earmark the donation to Jane Austen's PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, A Musical, it is re-granted to us, which we apply to our budget. What's good for the people who donate is that their donation is tax-deductible ... LOVE that fiscal sponsorship!

What I am happy to report is that while our fiscal sponsorship paperwork is in process, we have already received promises of from several people, which total $11,500. And ... just now, we emailed a letter of intent to a trust that could yield another $2,000. With our preliminary budget at $75,000, we feel like we are on our way ...

Can we do it? We think we can! ... we'll certainly know soon enough because the festival opens in just a little over three months. YIKES!!!

...and just so you know ... every single dollar donated helps us ... even $5 will buy us pencils, pay for some printing, or buy us a roll of duct tape ... AND in-kind donations are always welcome ... a case of water for rehearsals, a couple of reams of paper, a metro ticket for the month of september ... anything that is part of the production process ... we have a list ... so ... here we go ...

Onward!
